The story so far...

Brighton Lifeline Humanitarian Aid is a voluntary charitable organisation with no political or religious affiliation. We operate on a not-for-profit basis, and our workers receive neither wages nor expenses. All funds raised go directly to the purchase or transportation of aid, and to supporting aid distribution and facilities construction in recipient countries.

We formed in 1999 in response to the crisis in the former Yugoslavia. At that time our core workers were also involved in a local community development group called the "Kemptown Network" in Brighton. The humanitarian work grew from our community having an understanding that we were in a very luxurious position; we were able to help other people in great need.

The early story is in a page about Albania, Macedonia, and Kosova. This describes our steep but exciting learning curve!

Our more recent work is detailed in a page about Ukraine, the country where the Chernobyl nuclear accident occurred in the 1980s, and to where we have been introduced by colleagues in the humanitarian aid field.

We intend to continue supporting Ukraine, and also to return to Albania and Kosova. In addition, we have links with groups working at orphanages in Romania, and to other projects in Bosnia and Belarus. During 2000 and 2001 we also advised on a project in Burkina Faso, west Africa. For the future, with your help, we stand ready to assist with humanitarian needs and rebuilding, wherever we can.
